Ruth Druivenga, age 89 of Carnarvon, IA, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Regency Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Jefferson in Jefferson, IA. Ruth Frances Scott was born on August 30, 1935, to parents William and Frances (Huston) Scott. She was raised on a farm just outside of Early, IA, and graduated from Early High School in 1952.
On December 16, 1954, Ruth married Dale Edwin Druivenga. Dale was drafted into the United States Navy in 1951. Soon after, Ruth made her way to Council Bluffs, IA, to attend business school. While in Council Bluffs, Ruth was employed by Union Pacific. Once Dale was discharged in 1954, the couple settled on the family farm south of Lake View, IA. They were blessed with three sons, Steven, Dan, and Mark. The family moved to town a few years later and then to Carnarvon in 1971.
Over the years, Ruth worked at various places in between having children. She worked for McCullough Law Firm, Kelly Motors, and lastly, at Farmer’s State Bank in Lake View from which she retired from after thirty-three years in 2001. After Ruth retired, she decided to work part-time filing at United Agri Products and for Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. She was with the funeral home for many years working visitations and helped with the upkeep of the Wall Lake and Lake View locations.
In her free time, Ruth enjoyed knitting, sewing, and quilting. She and Dale loved dancing at the Lakewood Ballroom. The two of them bowled in mixed league for many years in Wall Lake and also enjoyed their monthly couples card club.
Ruth was a member of the Wall Lake Legion Auxiliary. She was a devoted member of the Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon and held several offices there over the years. She will be missed dearly by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include sons, Dan (Tanya) Druivenga of Jamaica, IA, and Mark (Shantel) Druivenga of Cumming, GA; daughter-in-law Mary Druivenga of Wall Lake, IA; grandchildren McKinsey Druivenga and Boe Druivenga; brother-in-law Luke (Karen) Druivenga of New Market, IA; step grandchildren: Brett Corrigan, Cameron Allen, Michael Allen, Joy (Brian) Sparland, Deseria (Tony) Kramer, and Bobbie (Juan) Vega; other extended family members and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Druivenga (1996); Steve Druivenga (2023); granddaughter Ashley Druivenga; parents William and Frances Scott; brothers Frank (Ruth Ann) Scott and Ralph (Claris) Scott.
