“Carol was a kind and generous person and beautiful inside and out. Looking at the video, I am amazed at what a wonderful family she had. It is obvious that her children, grandchildren, and great grands and so on loved her dearly. I can just imagine the great party that she and Mary and Gale and her many other friends and relatives are having right now. in heaven”

“Carol Hansen was a keystone in our family--she held many people together!! While her prodigious musical talent was probably what made her known throughout the community (who else can claim to have played music at church for 80+ years?), in our family she was probably better known for her warm hospitality! She hosted countless family gatherings, with Gale at her side, having planned where the out-of-towners would stay (often in her own home), and having made umpteen dishes safely stored in the downstairs 'fridge, so there'd always be enough for everyone to eat! In the summer, the food may have come from her garden--if those deer in the alley hadn't eaten much. She was a conscientious correspondent--sending messages by mail or email frequently and keeping up with all her many far-flung progeny. On GrandPad, she saw the cute kiddie photos sent by proud parents to Grandma, but she'd reply by email so you know she saw them. On the week before her death, she finally hired someone to trim her hedges--and she felt guilty, at 93, for at last abandoning one of her yard chores! Carol's strength was phenomenal; she might ask for help once in a while, but she carried the load for keeping up with a huge family to the very end. We all admired and loved her--she set a high bar for us, just like her Mom and Dad (Pete & Henrietta Kladstruup) did so many years ago. They'd have been proud of how Carol preserved their legacy of care and love for the family, and hopefully they're welcoming her into eternal rest, which she so fittingly deserves. I will miss her dearly!! And so will the rest of the family.”

“I farmed a farm across the fence from Gale and Carol In the 70s and Early 80s. Then when we moved to Newell attended Nain Lutheran Church where Carol was always playing the organ. What beautiful music she made and is now welcomed into the heavenly realm beside Gale and her relatives God's Blessings to Carol's family.”

“I grew up next door so to speak from Carol and Gale on the farm. She always treated me with warmth and kindness even though I couldn't stand to play the piano. Every time we went to Iowa to visit my mother we always stopped to see them. She would greet us with open arms as one might expect and didn't want to let us go. We talked about the past over and over and laughed at every story. She was always curious about what we had been doing in Arizona. Like Gale she was a very close and loyal friend of my parents, Alice and Don. I couldn't thank her enough for all the help and support that she gave my mother in her latter years. She had a big big heart! Each time we had to say goodbye the tears would appear when we hugged. It showed just how much her sensitivity, kindness, and love reached out to everyone. Good by and God bless Carol, you will be greatly missed. Happy trails on your journey to find Gale and Mary. Alan & Chris”

“Family of Carol, I met Carol the fall of of '45 when I joined the freshman class at Newell High. Carol was one of the best ladies I have ever met, kind, humble, friendly and top of the class. I remember it was well known Carol was an organist at her church in high school days. That is special to me as I have 2 children that started in school and are still playing at their churches. Sorry for the loss of your Mother and our friend but we know she is happy in Heaven with friends and fellow believers. Sincerely, Classmate and one of the last '49ers, Lloyd Boettcher ”

“I am so shocked and very saddened to hear of Carol's passing. She & I spent many years & hours playing duets. She has always been my inspiration for continuing playing for church and in general keeping up my keyboarding practice!! I will always keep her in my heart and remember the songs/duets we both loved to play! I wish for God's peace to be with your family at this difficult time. ”

“Carol taught me how to play the piano. Took lessons from her for 13 years. She was patient, kind, soft spoken fun loving, loved to laugh, and extremely talented. Our families all had so much fun together. I miss those days and I will miss her beautiful smile. She was a gem! Love to all the Hansen family. But I truly know she is giggling with Gale and Mary. ”

“I send my sincere sympathies to Carol's family and friends. Carol was the kindest lady, always with a friendly hello and smile on her face. I knew her and Gail from church. Carol shared her musical talents with our congregation at Nain for many, many years, she will be missed. I am sure all the angels in heaven rejoice that she has now joined them. Rest in peace Carol.”
