Burdette Domino, age 93 of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Clarence Burdette Domino was born on October 15, 1931, to parents Kenneth and Helen (Daisy) Domino in Sac City. He was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Sac City and later confirmed there. Burdette attended country school before attending school in town. He graduated from Sac City High School with the class of 1950.
On June 1, 1951, Burdette married Marjorie Stevens. This union was blessed with six children, Peggy, Bethine, Jeff, Kim, Debbie, and Gail. The couple later divorced.
Burdette worked for the Rural Electric Cooperative in Sac City for a short time before he started farming. At the young age of twenty eight, alongside his wife and six children at home, he was awarded Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year. Farming was indeed ‘in his blood’; he lived and breathed it. Burdette loved everything that farming stood for and was taking care of his cows and the farm up until his last days. His wishes were to remain at home on the farm and that’s exactly where he was when he took his last breath.
Burdette loved his surrounding communities and if you farmed and lived in any of them, you surely knew him. He was a friend to many and had the best, sweet smile. His mornings typically started off with breakfast at The Villager where he and others would get all caught up on area farming news and from there he was off to work for the day. He was such a regular there that in his final weeks, several of the staff from the restaurant helped care for him in his home.
Burdette was also a regular at the sale barn in Dunlap, Dunlap Livestock Auction. He was recently recognized by them for buying and selling cattle there for over seventy-three years.
Burdette was especially close to his two grandchildren, Levi and Dakota as they lived close by. They were always at the farm learning right alongside their grandpa. When Burdette wasn’t able to walk around outside as easily, his trusty gator got him around and he’d follow Levi all around the farm, directing him. He refused to not be a part of the daily operation purely out of his love for all of it.
While he loved farming, he loved his family even more. He was always sure to attend his grandkids activities and sporting events, he especially loved watching Dakota play basketball in high school. His great-granddaughter, Nova, quickly became his little sidekick at the farm. She loved riding around with him and getting to help, Burdette loved it even more.
Our community has lost a great man, a steward of the land, a good, hardworking farmer and most of all a friend to all. His family misses him dearly as will all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his children, Peggy Domino of Lake View, IA,  Bethine Domino of AZ, Jeff Domino of Newell, IA, Kim Domino of Sac City, IA, Debbie (Mark) Wiedemier of Carroll, IA, and Gail Givon of Plantation, FL; grandchildren Levi Blum, Dakota Blum (Shane), Kyle (Amy) Schnirring, Aaron (JoAnna) Domino, Alex (Justin) Elliott, Matt (Jen) Wiedemier, Sarah Wiedemier, Luke Wiedemier, Idan Givon, and Maya Givon; great-grandchildren: Nova, Harley, Tripp, Dominic, Bryce, Madagan, Vallier, Keylen, Tehya, Amari, Analei, Tinalia, and Savannah; brother Larry (Nancy) Domino of Iowa City, IA; many other extended family members and friends.
Burdette was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen Domino; sister Odean (Rex) Millhollin; ex-wife Marjorie Domino; and mother-in-law Iva Spurling.

“Burdette and I had fun when I worked at Citizens Bank. E always had that big Burdette smile before he asked me to do something. Later I ran into him at the Blackhawk nursing home where my mom was. Carroll and mom always say at the same table to eat unless Burdette came which was quite often. He talked about all of his kids and grandkids. He considered Carrolls kids his own too. They visited him And their mom too . I am so happy Burdette was able to have a good life after Marj passed.”

“To add on to my sister Kandi Kolpin's condolences for Burdette. His last 40 years brought a lot of joy to our mom Carol Domino. She spent hours mowing, planting flowers, not to mention making sure Burdette had 3 meals a day plus 2 snack breaks everyday. Mom and Burdette loved raising chickens and having fresh eggs. Both of them loved spending time down at the campground in Lakeview, whom they made great friends in their little circle. They both enjoyed spending time with her sister Jerrie Wigg and husband Glen, Julie Teut and husband Lowell, the guys always had farming conversations. It wasn't until Mom's health started to go downhill and they both lost control of what once was, a happy marriage. My mom's family including us kids had a lot of respect for Burdette in a time that is now just a memory. Kelli”
