Dianne Petersen Graeve was born February 23, 1951, the daughter of Minard and Susan (Meyer) Petersen. Dianne grew up in Lake View with her two younger brothers Minard and Ronald. Growing up, her family attended the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View and it was there that Dianne was baptized as an infant and later confirmed her faith in the Lord.

Dianne attended school in Lake View, graduating from Lake View High School in 1969. Shortly after high school, Dianne met Dean Graeve at the A&W restaurant in Lake View. Although they both were on their way to college, the courtship continued. Dean soon proposed and the couple were married on December 19, 1970 in Lake View. The couple settled down near Lytton, raising two boys, Josh and Aaron.

Dianne began an in-home daycare, which allowed her to be home with her children. Through this time, Dianne had many children under her care. Once her sons were older, Dianne began working at Lake City State Bank and later United Bank of Iowa in many capacities over her twenty-five years of employment until her retirement in 2016.

Dianne is a current member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sac City, Iowa. She had served her church as a Sunday school teacher, Women of Saint Paul, Vacation Bible School volunteer and belonged to various bible study groups.

Over the years, Dianne has enjoyed watching her sons compete and participate in school activities. She has continued this support through her grandchildren’s events and activities as well. Dianne loved quilting and making quilts for her family. Dianne was an active gardener and enjoyed spending time tending to her flower gardens. While bird watching was also a relaxing hobby she would do on their home.

Those left to cherish Dianne’s memory are her husband Dean of Lytton, Iowa; mother Susan Petersen of Lake View, Iowa; sons: Josh (Becky) Graeve of Ottumwa, Iowa, Aaron (Kelli) Graeve of Jolley, Iowa; grandchildren: Matt, Luke and Joe Graeve, Jayci and Dillon Graeve, brothers: Minard “Miny” (MaryAnne) Petersen of Rochester, Minnesota; Ronald Petersen of Westfield, Massachusetts; sisters-in-law Linda Gross of Harlan, Iowa, Janet Graeve of McKinney, Texas, Mary (Rob) Peterson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.

Dianne was preceded in death by her father Minard Petersen; sister-in-law Deb Petersen; and brother-in-law Larry Gross.

“Dianne was an amazing woman. She had a group of us kids she watched over during our early years. I have tons of fond memories spent with her, and she gave me a little bit extra "mom" when I needed it. I am grateful she was able to fill a void for me during that time. With Aaron and I, Josh and Kellee so close together we saw each other at almost every single school event through high school. She always came with a smile and said hello. ”
