LaRue Schade, age 86 of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. LaRue Gladys Ellis was born on March 29, 1938, to parents Elva and Gladys (Frandsen) Ellis on a farm northwest of Sac City. She was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Sac City and later confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Lytton, IA. LaRue attended country school and later, Lytton Community Schools. She graduated from Lytton High School with the class of 1956.

LaRue was blessed with three children, Deb, Kurt, and Kollin. She raised her family in Sac City where she worked as a Certified Nurse Aide. Once her children were grown, LaRue enrolled in Des Moines Area Community College’s Nursing Program. She graduated from DMACC in 1975 as a Registered Nurse. LaRue worked at Loring Hospital in Sac City for forty years before retiring. She will always be remembered as an amazing and compassionate nurse who cared deeply for her patients.

LaRue enjoyed all different kinds of needlework and was quite active in the Sac County Quilters group. She always looked forward to planting and tending to her flowers outside every spring and summer. She remained close to and stayed in contact with several of her former coworkers from Loring Hospital; they got together often for lunch. She and Ron enjoyed traveling the world. A few of their most memorable trips were to China, which they visited twice, and a cruise to Northern Europe. Above all, LaRue cherished her family and loved spending time with them.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children, Deb (Mark) Williams of Storm Lake, IA, Kurt (Jana) Schade of Waukee, IA, and Kollin (Janice) Schade of Hermantown, MN; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Simon (Rachel) Williams (Erica and Riley), Sydni (Chuck) Williams-Shaw (Quinten and Zayden), Eric (Amy) Schade (Addison and Jackson), Drew (Amanda) Schade (Ayla and Clara), Dylan Schade, Zachary Schade, and Jeff (Aubrey) Schade; sister-in-law Carol DeLoach of Sac City, IA; other extended family members and friends.

“Irene and I were so heartbroken to hear about the passing of LaRue. I will always remember her positive personality and that mischievous twinkle in her eyes. LaRue taught me how to "wink", and every time we met she would smile at me and wink. She was so easy to be around and always knew how to make people smile! Irene and I are thinking of your family during this difficult time.”
