Eldred Lietz, age 94 of Lake View, IA, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at his home in Lake View.
Eldred Wilbur Lietz was born on August 11, 1930, to parents Johann (John) and Anna (Bohlmeyer) Lietz in Herring, IA. He attended country school through the eighth grade near Lake View. Eldred was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Auburn, IA, where he served as a trustee and was a member of Couple’s Club, before becoming a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View.
On August 26, 1951, Eldred married Mildred Reka Buse. This union was blessed with three children: Gary, Wayne, and Glenna. They raised their family on the family farm south of Ulmer, IA. Eldred was a hard worker, who farmed his whole life. From a young child until the age of ninety-four, he was committed to the land and all of his livestock. His work left little to no time for hobbies; free time was spent with family of whom he was extremely proud of. Spending time with grandkids especially brought a smile to his face. On occasion, Eldred and Mildred would get together with neighbors to play cards.
Eldred will be missed dearly by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Gary (Elaine) Lietz of Lake City, IA, and Wayne (Julie) Lietz of Breda, IA; grandchildren: Chad (Aileen) Lietz, Jennifer (Stuart) Bohm, Michelle (Alex) Farley, Rachel (Keith) Naughton, Kim (Rob) Onuma, and Paul Muellerleile; great-grandchildren: Zachary Lietz, DJ Reiling, and Austin Farley; many extended family members and friends.
Eldred was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (2022); daughter Glenna Lietz (2024); parents Johann (John) and Anna (Bohlmeyer) Lietz; brothers Henry, Edward, and Wilbur Lietz; sisters Amanda Saur, Dorothy Bloom, Alvena Hokanson, Alma Trimmer, and Evelyn Meyer.
