June Crabb, age 88 of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, IA. June Sylvia Marlow was born on May 25, 1936, to parents Harold and Lucy (Johnson) Marlow in Cransley, England. She grew up in Cransley along with her five siblings.
On September 10, 1955, after traveling to the United States via the Queen Mary, June married the love of her life, George Wayne Crabb at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City. The two met while Wayne was serving in the United States Army and was stationed in England. This union was blessed with seven children: Luke, Matt, Kathy, Linda, John, Mark, and Joe. Together they raised their family in Sac City where Wayne owned and operated a salvage yard and later joined his father and brothers in partnership at Crabb Implement. Wayne and June purchased a farm in Wayne County, IA, and together developed the land to award winning status. June cleaned for many businesses and people over the years and also worked at the Oak Door in downtown Sac City. On July 4, 1996, June became a United States citizen through a naturalization ceremony in Sioux City, IA.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City and took part in the Ladies Guild. June’s faith was strong which was evident in the way she lived her life.
June enjoyed being outside tending to her flowers as well as her large produce garden. There was always a lot of canning to be done come late summer/early fall. She was a great cook who loved providing in that way for her family. She appreciated antiques, especially Toby Jugs and brass items, and loved shopping for and collecting them. She also refinished and brought back to life many old wood pieces over the years.
Above all, June loved her family and spending time them. They all meant the world to her; she was so proud of each and every one of them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
