Darrell Meister, age 66 of Lake View, IA, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. Darrell Stephen Meister was born on January 25, 1958, IA, to parents Kenneth and Katherine (Leitz) Meister. He grew up in the Wall Lake area and was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Darrell attended grade school in Wall Lake and graduated from the Wall Lake High School with the class of 1976. He then attended Iowa State and graduated with a degree in Ag Business in 1980.
After graduating college, Darrell worked as a loan officer in the banking business. He also worked at Metropolitan Life in Mankato, MN, as well as in Pella. He enjoyed serving his local community through his work. He had a very charitable heart and loved giving to others.
Darrell enjoyed watching all kinds of sports but especially ISU football and basketball. He was a coin collector and a skilled master modeler who put together hundreds of cars, ships, and many other things. He also enjoyed trips to casinos. Always at his side was his dog, Paco; he had a love for animals. Darrell liked traveling to farmer’s markets all over and raised his own fruit trees. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brother Daniel Meister of Lake View, IA, and sister Diane (Mark) Love of Savannah, GA; two nieces Arieana and Adalyn Love; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family members and friends.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Katherine Meister.
