Larry Miller, age 81 of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Arizona State Veteran’s Home in Phoenix. Larry Elroy Miller was born on December 20, 1942, to parents Bert and Gwendolyn (Skinner) Miller in Sac City, IA. He grew up in Sac City and graduated from Sac City High School in 1960. He was baptized in the Baptist Church.
Larry served in the United States Army from 1964-1970 and one of those years in Viet Nam. He was honorably discharged in 1970 and received the Good Conduct Medal as well as the Viet Nam Service Medal. Larry attended the CE School of Commerce in Omaha, NE, where he majored in Higher Accounting. He went on to work for Briggs Transportation in Omaha before moving to San Diego, CA, in 1968, to work at Moltronics as an Electronic Components Distributor. He was promoted to Product Manager and relocated to Orange County, CA, in 1977. Larry moved to Arizona State Veteran’s Home in November of 2022 where he was able make many friends with other Veterans and staff. Before moving there, he and his beloved dog, Max, lived in Prescott, AZ. He was a huge Barbara Mandrell fan, loved biscuits and gravy, and always looked forward to getting breakfast at Jack In The Box.
He is survived by his sister, Beverly Fransen of Hendricks, MN; nephew Duane Warriner; nieces Linda Westeen and Kathy Haley; other extended family members and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Gwendolyn Miller; sister and brother-in-law Marilyn (Harold) Warriner; brother-in-law Raymond Fransen; nieces Patty and Peggy Haley; and nephews Gary and Dale Haley.
