Samantha Trimpe, age 30 of Breda, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 19, 2024. Samantha Faylee Harms was born on November 24, 1993, to parents Lori Harms and Kurt Campbell in Iowa City, IA. She grew up in Sac City where she attended school. Later, Sami attended Des Moines Area Community College and went on to work as a Certified Medical Assistant.
Sami was blessed with a son, Harley on January 28, 2010. In 2014, Sami married Chris Meiners and they were blessed with a daughter, Savannah. They later divorced. On May 22, 2021, Sami was united in marriage to Dereck Trimpe in Las Vegas, NV. They made their home together in Breda. Sami and Dereck loved spending time together when they traveled and always looked forward to trying new foods along the way. They also enjoyed staying up late to play dice, one of the many games taught to her and enjoyed by her stepfather Moe.
Sami loved life and was so good at making those around her smile. She loved fiercely and always made it a point to let her family and friends know how big her love was for them. She loved the river and spending time in nature. Sami also found peace when listening to music and taking spontaneous road trips. Fishing was something else she enjoyed, especially if her kids were doing it with her.
Sami’s kids were her life. She adored them and was so very proud of them. She, her kids, her brother Garrett, and sister Shauna, made it a point to visit their mom/grandma Lori’s grave on a regular basis as Lori sadly passed away just a few months after Harley was born.
The remarkable thing about Sami was her ability to seamlessly transition from dancing around the house to loud music, usually Mac Miller, to chilling on the couch or in bed to watch a movie snuggled up alongside her loved ones…and any porch night was a good time lit by anything from her smile to the tiki torches. She was a special person with a huge heart.
Gone too soon but never forgotten. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Harley Harms and Savannah Meiners; father Kurt Campbell of Carroll, IA; husband Dereck Trimpe of Breda, IA; siblings Shauna (Andy) McGowan of Carroll, IA, and Garrett Durflinger of Iowa City, IA; uncles Doug Harms of Carroll, IA, Stephen Campbell of Colorado Springs, CO, and Chris Campbell of Sioux City, IA; nieces and nephews Shane, Sunny, Mickey, and Ronan McGowan; many other extended family members and friends.
Sami was preceded in death by her mother, Lori Harms; maternal grandfather Jerry Harms; paternal grandparents Robert and Diane Alborn; uncle Shane Harms; and stepfather Gary “Moe-Moe” Moeller.

“I could say so much about Sami over the years. She was such a beautiful soul who went through so many hardships and didn't let life break her down. She continued to be a strong, fierce loving light in the world. She touched so many people's hearts throughout her short life time. She will be forever missed. I am so sorry for her family that is going through this tremendous loss. I hope they know they have one heck of a guardian angel watching out for them. ”
