   Robert (Bob) Williams of Lytton, IA, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the age of 97. Bob was born in Carroll, IA, on January 15, 1927, to parents Ray and Helen (Hackett) Williams. He attended and graduated from Lytton Consolidated School in 1945. After graduation, Bob served in the United States Army Signal Corps beginning in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1947.
   Bob was united in marriage to Marilyn Gustafson on July 23, 1949, in Harcourt, IA. They made their home in Lytton and were blessed with two sons, Greg and Doug. Bob and Marilyn attended the Lytton Presbyterian Church where they were very active and where Bob served as an elder for many years. Bob was employed by the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier from 1959-1990. He was very active and served his community as the Lytton City Clerk for 50 years, was a member of the Lytton Fire Department for 30 years, and served on the Lytton School Board for 9 years. Bob was also an active member of the American Legion, VFW, Masonic Lodge, and Retired Letter Carrier’s Association. Some of Bob’s proudest moments were the days of coaching his sons’ Little League teams.
   Bob cherished spending time with family. He kept busy attending all his grandchildren’s activities and staying up to date on his great-grandchildren’s activities later in life. He also enjoyed spending time out at the family farm and having coffee with friends. He was a kind and compassionate family man and a friend to many. Bob was a pillar in his community and will be greatly missed.
   He is survived by his two sons, Greg (Tammy) Williams and Doug (Cathy) Williams all of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: Sara (Chuck) Nattress of Lytton, IA, Jamie Williams (Justin Salzl) of Victoria, MN, Shelly (Brandon) Johnson of Ankeny, IA, Brad (Emily) Williams of Lytton, IA, and Linsey Williams of Virginia Beach, VA; great-grandchildren: Brock, Charlie, Cooper, Max, Leo, Gus, Mary, Wyatt, Piper, Parker, Bobby, Reese, and Kodi; sister-in-law Louise VanderLinden of Ankeny, IA; many many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
   Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Williams; parents Ray and Helen Williams; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Eileen Williams, brother-in-law Robert VanderLinden, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Sara Gustafson.
