Jerry Pemble, age 88 of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at his home just outside of Sac City. Jerald Walter Pemble was born on November 8, 1935, to parents Walter and Ruth (Toyne) Pemble, in Carroll, IA. He grew up in Scranton, IA, where he attended Kendrick #5 Country School and later graduated from Scranton High School with the class of 1953.
After high school, Jerry served in the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1957, having earned the rank of Sergeant. After being discharged, he returned to Sac City and went to work farming with his father and brother, Jim. They farmed the land planting and harvesting crops and raised hogs and cattle over the years. Jerry was a good steward of the land and was a friend to many area farmers.
On August 6th, 1967, Jerry was united in marriage to Kay Colvert on the family farm north of Sac City. They would reside on a farm south of Sac City during their marriage and raise their two children, William (Billy) and Kari. Together, Jerry and Kay enjoyed traveling. They took a trip to England in 1992 and another trip to Scotland 1996. Over the years they made many trips to visit with family and friends in Texas, Arizona, California, Las Vegas, and frequent trips to Spencer to see their grandkids. They were members of the United Methodist Church in Sac City. Sadly, Kay passed away in a tragic car accident in May of 2003 at the age of 66.
Jerry continued to live on the farm, spending time farming, golfing, playing cards and socializing with friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; he was so proud of them. He will be missed dearly by his family, his friends, and all who knew and loved him.
Jerry is survived by his children, Billy Pemble (Pat Uren and children Cully, Crystal, Kyle, and Cole) of Sac City, IA, and Kari (Shawn) Pingel of Spencer, IA; grandchildren: Isaac Pingel (friend Hannah Harris), Izzy Pingel, and Breyer Pingel; brothers Jim Pemble of Sac City, IA, and Paul Pemble of Cresco, IA; and many extended family members and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Pemble; parents Walter and Ruth Pemble; and sister-in-law Kay Pemble.
