On August 10, 1968, Trudy married Gary Robeson. This union was blessed with two daughters, Kelly and Heidy. They later divorced.
Trudy had a servant’s heart and was called to be a mother, grandmother, and nurse. She was awarded a national Daisy Award for her excellence in nursing in October 2017. She worked at several hospitals including St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Orange City Municipal Hospital in Orange City, and was a travel nurse for many years working in Wisconsin, Oregon, Nebraska and Rhode Island. Trudy’s last nursing job was at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE, from which she retired in 2018.
Trudy loved her family and spending time with them brought her a tremendous amount of joy. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan in the bleachers, as she loved attending their sporting events. And, when she was called upon to care for her grand dogs, Lucy and Gunnar, she never hesitated. Trudy is lovingly missed by her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Trudy enjoyed quilting, sewing, and crafting. She loved to bake, especially for friends and family during the holidays. She and her daughter, Heidy, enjoyed making handcrafted earrings together after she retired.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Kelly (Jim) Salker and Heidy Robeson both of Sergeant Bluff, IA; grandchildren Cole Salker of Dallas, TX, Cody Salker of Pawtucket, RI, and Emma Salker of Sergeant Bluff, IA; and other extended family members and friends.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Gladys Hawks; brother David (Deb) Hawks; and infant brother Charles Hawks.
