Ivadell Huisenga, age 98 of Lake View, IA, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View. Ivadell Ann Schoneboom was born on February 17, 1926, to parents Gerkie and Erna (Gleim) Schoneboom in Lake View, where she would live her entire ninety-eight years and independently until November of 2023. She graduated from Lake View High School with the class of 1944. Ivadell then went to work as a receptionist for Dr. C.E. Lierman.
On June 27, 1948, Ivadell was united in marriage to Delmer Huisenga. They celebrated fifty-nine years together before his passing in 2007. They were blessed with two sons, Jeffrey and Michael. Ivadell was a homemaker and farm wife who was not afraid of a little hard work. She and Delmer farmed for most of their married life.
Ivadell enjoyed dancing and always looked forward to going to the area dance halls with Delmer. She and Delmer were in a couple’s card club for many years and she enjoyed entertaining when it was their turn to host. She also played in several ladie’s card clubs. Ivadell never missed watching the Lawrence Welk Show on Saturday nights. She liked word search puzzles in her spare time. Everyone always looked forward to meals at her house, especially the grandkids, as she was an amazing cook.
Ivadell was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View. She was a devoted member of the Ladie’s Aid and played in the Ladie’s Aid Band, using kitchen utensils to make music. She really enjoyed the fun they had together and always appreciated the companionship it brought.
Ivadell loved her family so much and always looked forward to spending time with them. They will miss her dearly as will all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Jeffrey (Sheryl) Huisenga of Lake View, IA, and Michael (Janice) Huisenga of South Sioux City, NE; grandchildren: Jason (Brooke) Huisenga of Storm Lake, IA, Daniel (Wendy) Huisenga of Sac City, IA, Stacy (James) Lally of Auburn, IA, Brandon (Jamie) Dittman of Stanhope, IA, Derick, Dylan, and Drew Huisenga all of South Sioux City, NE; great-grandchildren: MaKenna (Dillon) Kunneke of Early, IA, Ayden Huisenga of Auburn, IA, Layne Huisenga of Abilene, TX, Wyatt Dittman of Stanhope, IA, Noelle Dittman of Stanhope, IA, Drew Huisenga of Storm Lake, IA, and Lauryn and Ellie Lally of Auburn, IA; brothers Eldo (LaVerna) Schoneboom of Auburn, IA, and Curtis (Denise) Schoneboom of Arlington, TX; sister Beverly (Don) Williams of Granbury, TX; many other extended family members and friends.
Ivadell was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Huisenga; parents Gerkie and Erna Schoneboom; parents-in-law Dick and Martha Huisenga; sister Mavis (Curtis) Baird; brother-in-law Marvin (Maxine) Huisenga; and sister-in-law Darlene Hanson (husbands Vernon Wicker and Vernol Hanson).
