Reva Bieret, age 84 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024, with her beloved husband and family by her side at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake. Reva Dee Aiken was born on October 24, 1939, to parents Rodney and Ruth (Way) Aiken in Lohrville, IA. She grew up in Lohrville where she attended school and was a member of the Methodist church where she was baptized and confirmed. Reva graduated Lohrville High School with the class of 1958. Reva then attended the Iowa Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls where she obtained her teaching certificate. After graduating from there she taught for two years in Rockwell City.
On April 22, 1962, Reva married the love of her life, Leroy Henry Bieret at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. This union was blessed with three children, Gloria, Diane, and Kevin. They raised their family on a farm just outside of Wall Lake before moving in to town where they would live together before moving to Twilight Acres due to health issues.
Reva was a simple soul and had a huge heart. She was as hardworking and dedicated as they come and was never afraid to get her hands dirty. Whether it was spending hours in her very large garden planting and maintaining it, harvesting all of the produce and then canning it, or making sure the dairy barn was in tip top shape, she always stayed busy. Reva was very tidy and organized always making sure the windows were clean, junk drawers and cupboards were in order, and lists were followed. She was also an amazing cook. She took great pride especially in her pie baking skills. Reva worked at Twilight Acres for eighteen years in the kitchen and always took care of making the desserts and everyone’s favorite pies. She loved working there and made sure she always made it for her shifts, regardless of the weather. Again, she was a very dedicated human being, always making sure to do what she could as best as she could for her family and others.
Reva was ‘that mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend’ that never forgot special dates. Whether it be a birthday, anniversary, etc. she was sure to either call you or have a card in the mail for you. She was a devoted member of the Wheatland Presbyterian Ladies Aid, taught Sunday School at Wheatland Presbyterian Church, played in several card clubs with her lady friends over the years, and was always a huge supporter of her grandchildren by being there for all of their special moments and attending their activities. She also loved animals, especially her dogs.
Later on in their marriage, Leroy and Reva traveled to many different places including Alaska, Branson, MO, and Arizona, just to name a few. They enjoyed these trips together. Every year the two of them attended the Clay County Fair in Spencer, IA. Once the kids were all grown and out of the house, Reva got Sundays off in the kitchen. All the years of getting up early on Sunday mornings before church to prepare a wonderful meal, that’d be timed perfectly to be done the moment they arrived home from church, meant that Leroy would now take her out to eat every Sunday after church. This was another thing they always looked forward to doing together. Reva never missed church. Her faith was strong and it showed in all the ways she lived her life. Her family was her world and she never missed a chance to spend time with them, they all brought her so much joy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years, Leroy Bieret of Wall Lake, IA; children Dr. Gloria Bieret (Matt Cotant) of Coralville, IA, Diane (Chris) Kenney of Anamosa, IA, and Kevin (Shari) Bieret of Wall Lake, IA; grandchildren: Tim Engel (Margo Walz), Tyler (Chelsea) Bieret, Tara (Levi) Bergmann, Trenda (Danny) Secrist, Amber (Levi) Dosland, Chelsey, Madison, and Chloe Bieret; great-grandchildren: Grace, Abram, Rayna, Dakota, Delilah, Leila, Benson, and one more due any day; brother Bob Aiken of Papillion, NE; brother-in-law George Bieret of Wall Lake, IA; sisters-in-law
