Kelly Scott, age 55 of Lake View, IA, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, with her beloved husband Joel at her side, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Kelly LaVern Wollesen was born on December 11, 1968, to parents LaVern and Phyllis (Werkmeister) Wollesen in Sac City, IA. She grew up in Lake View where she attended school. Kelly graduated from Lake View Auburn High School with the class of 1987. After graduating she attended Iowa Lakes Community College where she obtained her Associates Degree in Horticulture, class of 1989.

On April 25, 2009, Kelly married the true love of her life, Joel Thomas Scott, at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. They honeymooned in Scotland where they traveled the countryside seeing all the beauty it has to offer. The two of them shared a love of all things Scottish. They traveled to Scotland a second time in 2019 for a Blessing of Vows. This took place at the Market Cross in Campbeltown, Scotland.

Kelly loved floral design and worked for many years at Joyce’s Greenery in Storm Lake as their manager and florist. Her beauty radiated through her work. She created many beautiful pieces for weddings, funerals, and many other special events. It was a true passion of hers. She also worked as a florist at Hoffman’s in Storm Lake and Details in Sac City. Kelly worked part-time as a monitor at the Iowa Central Community College Storm Lake site for several years, making many friends while there. Her students adored her as she was such an uplifting and supportive person. Kelly flourished in any position she held that included interacting with people. It meant everything to her to bring smiles to others faces. She had a huge heart full of love that she was always so willing to share with others. Most recently she worked as an Optician at Walmart in Carroll, IA. Kelly had to retire due to her declining health in November of 2022.

Kelly was a fur mom to three Chihuahuas, Mac, Peanut, and Buttercup aka ‘ittles’. She loved her pups just as much as they loved her. She was a Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. She liked helping with the arts and crafts during Vacation Bible School at Peace Lutheran Church. Kelly collected burgundy glassware and had a room in her home dedicated to her love of Scotland that was decorated accordingly. She loved music of all kinds and she and Joel often attended the symphony in Sioux City. She was an amazing, supportive aunt and great-aunt who loved attending her great niece’s events. She loved her family and cherished any time spent with them. Kelly has left this earth too soon and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Joel Scott of Lake View, IA; sister Kathleen Goodman of Storm Lake, IA; nieces Kasey Goodman-Jepson (Justin) of Storm Lake, IA, Brooke Peterson (fiancé Kevin Nelson) of Glidden, IA, Shelby Kramer (fiancé Dallas Robert) of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jillian (Jessica) Lock of New York, NY; nephews  Josh (Monica) Fischer of Clermont, FL, Brandon (Morgan) Kramer of Lanesboro, IA, and Jacob (Madison) Carlson of Des Moines, IA; great-nieces and nephews: Danielle, Quintin, Aneissa, Austin, Blake, Clay, Levi, and Presley; parents-in-law Bill and Janice Scott of Wall Lake, IA; sisters-in-law Jeanna (Phil) Bender of Ewing, KY, and Jennifer Zabel of Lehigh, IA; many other extended family members and friends.

Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, LaVern and Phyliis Wollesen; infant sister Cynthia Wollesen; grandparents William “Bill” Werkmeister and Grace Burtcheard, and Edward and Elizabeth Wollesen; and brother-in-law Jerrold Goodman.

“I'm so shocked at this loss. My heart & prayers go out to her husband, sister and her sister's family. Kelly was the kind of person everyone should be in life. A rare jewel who would give you the shirt off your back, was easy to talk to and always had the type of personality that people typically gravitate toward. May she rest in peace now that she is reunited with her folks. Gone too soon. You won't be forgotten my dear! ”
