   Lynn Huisenga, age 73 of Marshalltown, IA, formerly of Early, IA, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at UnityPoint Health –Marshalltown Hospital. Lynn Alan Huisenga was born on March 9, 1950, in Sac City, IA, the fourth of seven children to parents Everett and Ardola (Janssen) Huisenga. He grew up in Early and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Lynn attended Crestland School District. At the age of nineteen he joined the United States Navy and served for a short time before returning home to Early.

   Lynn lived with his parents for many years and worked odd jobs around the area. He moved to the Iowa Veterans Home in 2016. Lynn enjoyed fishing and on occasion liked to hunt for raccoons and deer. He also enjoyed watching football.

   Lynn was a kind and friendly man who was always willing to lend a hand. He had a great personality and will be missed dearly by his family and all who knew and loved him.

   Survivors include his siblings, Larry Huisenga of Omaha, NE, Kay Huckins of Vernonia, OR, Lonnie Huisenga of TX, and Lanny (Deb) Huisenga of Moline, IL; brother-in-law Clinton Tillman of San Antonio, TX; aunts Wanda Bulten of Early, IA, Nera Zimmer of Des Moines, IA, and Marilyn Havens of Stewartville, MN; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

   Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Ardola Huisenga; sisters Deanna (Oran) Lewis and Cheri Tillman; sister-in-law Patricia Huisenga; and brother-in-law Ken Huckins.

“I am one of the dietary supervisors at the Iowa Veterans Home. Lynn always greeted me with a smile daily and always shared a joke or a kind word. He had a great sense of humor and I will miss visiting with him at breakfast. Rest in peace Lynn”
