Alice Elrick, age 93 of Lake View, IA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View. Alice June Boucher was born on December 21, 1929, to parents Orville and Angeline (Tendall) Boucher in Norway Township in Wright County, IA. She grew up in Clarion, IA, and graduated from Clarion High School with the class of 1947.
After graduation, Alice moved to Des Moines, IA, where she worked at Bankers Life (now Principal Financial) before joining the United States Air Force (WAF) in 1952. Alice served as one of the very first flight stewardesses for the Military Air Transport Service during the Korean Conflict. She was honored to travel to Washington D.C. with other veterans in 2016 on the Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight out of Fort Dodge, IA.
Alice was blessed with three children, Jacquelyn, Howard, and Todd. She raised her family in Ames, IA, where she was elected Clerk of Court for three terms. She was working in City Hall on the day it was bombed, May 22, 1970, and was grateful to live to tell about it. While in Ames she served for several years as President of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and was a member of the Ames American Legion Auxiliary.
After her children were grown and out on their own, Alice moved to Branson, MO, where she worked in a management position for a hotel chain. This job took her all over the country. Upon retiring, she moved to Carroll, IA, and later Lake View to be closer to her children. She was a member of the Lake View American Legion Auxiliary.
In her spare time Alice enjoyed reading and liked playing cards with her family. She was a cat lover and always had cats for pets. Getting to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always brought a smile to her face. She will be missed dearly by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Alice is survived by her children, Jackie (Craig) Wallace of Lake View, IA, Howard Elrick of Glidden, IA, and Todd (Heather) Elrick of Barnette, MO; grandchildren: Jim (Chloe) Wallace of Lake View, IA, Ben (Melissa) Wallace of Lake View, IA, Kristina Elrick (Eddie) of Branson, MO, Shandi Elrick of Fort Worth, TX, and Joshua Elrick of North Hollywood, CA; great-grandchildren: Grace, Olive, Claire, and Willow; brother-in-law Hershel Wells of Roseville, MN; sisters-in-law Sondra Boucher of St. Joseph, MO, and Judy Boucher of Branson, MO; half-sister Sandy Jackson of Clear Lake, IA; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Angeline (Melvin) Buck; father Orville Boucher; sister Beverly Wells; and brothers Don Boucher and Kay Boucher.
