Kathy Martin, age 70 of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. Katherine Marie Rench was born on October 5, 1952, to parents DeLoss and Melvina (Knox) Rench in Sac City. She and her nine siblings grew up and attended Sac Community Schools.
Kathy married the love of her life, Gene Martin, on March 31, 1973. This marriage was blessed with three children, Bradley Gene, Adam DeLoss, and Sarah Lynn. They made their home in Hanna, OK, until moving back to Sac City in 1991. Kathy was a homemaker while Gene was out on the road driving truck when they resided in Oklahoma. When they moved back to Iowa she worked at the Howard Center, an agency that provides care for the disabled for over twenty-three years, as an assisted group living coordinator.
Kathy adored her family and loved nothing more than to spend time with them. She was so proud of her kids and grandkids and was so happy to get to be called a great-grandma. Her dog, Gator, was always by her side. She always enjoyed a good game of cards, especially cribbage. Kathy always had a smile on her face and was just a fun person to talk to because of her upbeat, sweet personality. She will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her. She was surely greeted at heaven’s gates by her sweet boy Adam, husband Gene, and all loved ones that passed before her.
Kathy is survived by her children, Brad (Lee) Martin of Alta, IA, and Sarah Kruckenberg of Sac City, IA; grandchildren, Colton Mohr of Sac City, IA, Kaylynn (Christopher) Larson of Lytton, IA, Kylin Kruckenberg of Fort Dodge, IA, and James Martin (fiancé Kim) of Rembrandt, IA; great-grandchildren: Summit Mohr, Titan Mohr, Nova Martin, and Weston Martin; siblings Jane Bennett of Sac City, IA, Jerry (Linda) Rench of TX, Tom (Jen) Rench of Omaha, NE, and Donnie (Joni) Rench of Norwalk, IA; in-laws: Marilyn Rench of CO, Pat Rench of SD, Barb Rench of Sac City, IA, Trina Martin of Pryor, OK, Debbie McCullar, Mary (Glen) Cumminsky, Brenda (Gerald) Mulliniks, and Janet Bradford all of Eufala, OK; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Martin in 2015; son Adam Martin; parents DeLoss and Melvina Rench; siblings: DeLoss Rench, Danny Rench, Bill Rench, and Marilyn Geery; parents-in-law CB and Mabel Martin; brothers-in-law Dave Bennett, Bobby Martin, and Charles Martin.
