Dennis Thorpe, age 66 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, IA, surrounded by his family. Dennis Roland Thorpe was born on March 21, 1957, in New York, NY, to parents Denzel and Donna (Williams) Thorpe. When he was an infant the family moved to Storm Lake, IA, where Dennis attended elementary school. The family then moved to Sioux City, IA, and he attended Woodrow Wilson Jr/Sr High School.
After high school, Dennis, along with his brothers, traveled all over working as linemen, installing cable. This job took them all over the United States. Dennis spent a lot of time especially in Colorado and Oklahoma, most recently settling in Sac City.
Dennis was a ‘jack of all trades’ who loved tinkering on things. He had a mind for creating and over the years made so many beautiful, unique sculptures and pieces out of all kinds of materials. He liked Harley Davidson motorcycles and had one of his own when he was younger. Dennis was a joker for sure, and everyone learned to expect that from him. He had a generous heart and was always willing to help anyone he could, even without having much himself. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his siblings, Danny Thorpe of Denver, CO, Donnie (Bonnie) Thorpe of Sac City, IA, David (Mary) Thorpe of Bailey, CO, Douglas (Shannon) Thorpe of Thornton, CO, and Darla (Robert) Schmidt of Phoenix, AZ; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Denzel Thorpe and Donna Thorpe.
