Funeral Services for Terry Skarin, age 72 of Lake View, IA, will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake View, IA. Visitation will be held ONE HOUR PRIOR to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place in the Kiron Cemetery in Kiron, IA. Terry passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.

  Terry Robert Skarin was born on October 17, 1950, in Ida Grove, IA, to parents Robert (Bob) and Carole (Nelson) Skarin. He was baptized and confirmed at the Kiron Evangelical Free Church. He attended Kiron Elementary School and Denison High School. Terry graduated with the Class of 1968. He then attended trade school, studying refrigeration.

   Terry worked in maintenance at a packing plant in Denison for several years before driving a feed truck for the Kiron Coop. His father owned a propane sales and service company and Terry started driving the propane truck. After some years, Bob retired and Terry bought the business. He owned and operated the business for many years before selling it and moving to Lake View. Terry worked at Evapco in Lake View until he retired in 2019.

   In retirement Terry enjoyed going to area casinos and stock car races. He also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees, and Iowa Hawkeyes. He liked playing cards, especially Euchre, on a regular basis. Terry had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He loved spending time with family and friends. He donated a lot of blood over the years and was also an EMT/1st Responder along with Volunteer Firefighter for the city of Kiron for most of his adult life.

   Terry passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Sioux City, IA, due to complications from open heart surgery. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

   Survivors include his siblings, Tommy Skarin of Ida Grove, IA, and Vicki Skarin (Steve Haslach) of Minneapolis, MN; nephew Alex Haslach of MN; aunts Rena Skarin and Carol Skarin both of Denison, IA; many other extended family members and friends.

   Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Carole Skarin; maternal grandparents Sydney and Sophia Nelson; paternal grandparents David and Florence Skarin.
