JoAnn Vauble, age 92 of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2022, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake, IA. JoAnn Staton was born on June 23, 1930, to parents George and Florence (Manska) Staton. She grew up in Sac City where she attended school until she was needed at home to help raise her younger siblings. JoAnn was one of eleven children and was a member of the First Christian Church in Sac City.
On July 2, 1949, JoAnn married LeRoy “Dick” Vauble in Carroll, IA. They were blessed with two sons, Richard and Donald. They made their home in Sac City where Dick farmed and managed the Phillips 66 Station and JoAnn worked in housekeeping at the Estates Motel.
JoAnn volunteered her time for many years at the Sac County Outreach Center. She enjoyed helping at the center; her help was always needed and appreciated. She was a ‘collector’ of sorts so she would often come home with new-to-her items she purchased while there. She really enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas, which she loved decorating for. JoAnn also enjoyed outings to area casinos to play the slots. Over the years she did some gardening and also liked to knit. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her son, Don Vauble of Sac City, IA; sisters-in-law Pauline Vauble and Bev Vauble both of Sac City, IA; several other in-laws, nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Vauble; son Richard Vauble; parents George and Florence Staton; brothers: Lee, Leo, James, Wilber, Rolland, and Clare Staton; and sisters: Marilyn Mentzer, Katherine Birt, Martha Breon, and Marjorie Hammer.
