Donald Meyer, age 99 of Lake View, IA, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, IA.  Donald Duane Meyer was born on November 1, 1923, to parents Leury and Olla (Cross) Meyer in Laurel, NE.  Donald grew up on a family farm near Lake View, IA.  He attended school at Lake View Viola Township #1.  After schooling he worked as a farmer.  In May of 1943, Donald joined the United States Army.  He served during World War II in the Pacific and the Philippines.  He was a decorated Veteran.

     On March 7, 1948, Donald was united in marriage to Velma Peters.  This union was blessed with three children: Mary, Marc, and Marsha.  Don was a lifelong farmer, who raised livestock and grain.  He was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran in Lake View since 1947, serving many years as an Elder.  Don loved to dance and sing, frequenting the Lakewood Ballroom along with Velma.  They also enjoyed card club with other couples.  Don enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

    Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Mary Meyer of Lake View, IA, Marc (Luanne) Meyer of West Des Moines, IA, and Marsha (Bill) Sample of Polk City, IA; grandchildren: Matthew (Eva) Meyer, Andrea Meyer, Jessica Sample, Joanna (Martin) Karmba, Brad Sample and Theresa Sample: great-grandchildren: Addison Meyer, Jayden Pratt, and Abby Kile.

     He was preceded in death by his wife Velma Meyer; and his parents Leury and Olla Meyer.
