Margaret Nelson, age 88 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.  Margaret Jean Nelson was born on December 9, 1933, to parents Thomas and Minnie (Skarin) Tapley in Sac City. She grew up with her family in the Sac City area.  Margaret attended Grade School and High School in Sac City graduating with the class of 1952.  Following graduation, she attended secretarial school. 

     On May 23, 1954, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Nelson at the United Methodist Church in Sac City. This union was blessed with three children: Jeffrey, Jerold, and Jacqueline.  Margaret was a devoted wife and mother taking care of her family through the years.  She worked as the Sac County Recorder and also as the Deputy Recorder.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sac City where she worked for many years as the church secretary.  After that, she was a member of the First Christian Church.  Margaret was involved in the community and served on the board for the Howard Center and volunteered at Kids World, Meals on Wheels, and Hospice. Margaret enjoyed quilting and loved socializing with friends and family.  She will be dearly missed by her loved ones. 

     Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jeffrey Nelson and special friend Sonya Dierenfeld of Sac City, IA, and  Jacqueline Armstrong of Forest City, IA; grandchildren: Jenny (Jason) Wright of Tiffin, IA, Peggy Sue (Chris) Clay of Phoenix, AZ, and Eric Armstrong of Forest City, IA; great-grandchildren Emmeline and Austin Wright, and soon to be Jeremiah Clay.

     Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Nelson; parents Thomas and Minnie Tapley; son Jerold Nelson; brother Charles Tapley; sister Frances Mailand; and son-in-law Tracy Armstrong.
