Agnes Ackerson Boyd, age 94 of Waukee, IA, formerly of Early, IA, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 3, 2022, at her home in Waukee. Agnes Madeline Ziegmann was born on September 22, 1928, to parents Anthony V. and Anna M. (Berning) Ziegmann in Wall Lake, IA. She attended country school in Wall Lake during her youth.
On October 24, 1947, Agnes was united in marriage to Russell Herbert Ackerson. This union was blessed with two children, Sharon and Steve. Together they raised their family in Early where they lived and farmed for forty-five years. After Russell passed away on July 4, 1993, Agnes moved to Storm Lake, IA, where she worked as a farm manager and caregiver for Les Houston. In 1998, Agnes was united in marriage to Frank Boyd. After Frank’s passing just three years later due to cancer, Agnes moved to Waukee to be closer to her family. Prior to that, Agnes spent many winters with either her daughter in Dallas, TX, or her son Steve in Fountain Valley, CA, before they moved back to Iowa.
Agnes loved ballroom dancing, card club, bowling, fishing, and especially shopping. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family. She had a great sense of humor and such a huge heart. She was an amazing caregiver to both of her husbands when they needed it most. Agnes was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early where she was an active member of the Guild. She enjoyed spending time with everyone from the community while at various social events and activities. She loved to bake and was known for her wonderful pies. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church while living in Storm Lake and then St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee. Agnes loved fiercely which made it incredibly easy for others to love her right back. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Ackerson of Waukee; son Steve (Roxann) Ackerson of Urbandale; grandchildren: Brian (Larissa) Ackerson of Ankeny, Aaron (Janell) Ackerson of Little Canada, MN, and Stephanie (Burke) Webster of Waukee; great-grandchildren: Lydia and Blake Ackerson, Will and Nora Ackerson, Walker, Owen, and Gemma Webster; brother-in-law LuVerne Snyder of Storm Lake; many wonderful nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Anna Ziegmann; husband Russell Ackerson; husband Frank Boyd; siblings: Arnold, Raymond, Joseph, Lillian, Helen, Leona, Dorothy and Alice.
The family would like to send special thanks to Care Initiatives Hospice for the loving care they gave to Agnes and for the support they offered to them as well.
