Marilyn “Mary” Ringgenberg, age 93 of Early, IA, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, IA. Marilyn Joyce Luft was born on December 23, 1928, to parents Milton and Ernestine (Baichtal) Luft in Sac City, IA. She graduated from Sac City High School and then attended Buena Vista College and then the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls where she earned her teaching certificate.
On February 3, 1951, Mary was united in marriage to Maurice Ringgenberg. This union was blessed with three children: Beth, Jenny, and Milton. Mary worked as a teacher and a homemaker. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Early where she worked at the food pantry and was also in the church choir. Mary and Maurice, better known as “Gump”, traveled throughout the United States and especially enjoyed family trips to places such as The Black Hills, Colorado, Niagara Falls, and California. She loved vacationing by the ocean and always thought the desert was such a pretty site when visiting her daughter in Phoenix. She was an avid reader and many will recall seeing her holding a sign protesting war in the early 2000s along the highway in Early. Mary loved her family and treasured all the time she was able to spend with them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Beth Fossey of Phoenix, AZ, Jenny (Tom) Price of Boone, IA, and Milton Ringgenberg of Lohrville, IA; daughter-in-law Paulette Ringgenberg of Rockwell City, IA; grandchildren: Brian Beauchemin, Kristin (Chris) Wright, Jessica (Dean) Lewis, Tony Price, Jamie Elliot, Joey (Michelle) Price, Ryan (Amanda) Ringgenberg, and Afton Daniel; great- grandchildren: Chase and Sawyer Wright, Cayanne Beauchemin, Bailey and Emma Price, Jaxon and Hudson Elliot, Ava, Alli, and Sam Price, Keaton, Auston, Trendon, and Brogan Daniel, Carter Lewis, Wyatt and Hannah Price; sister JoAnn Lashier of Ypsilanti, MI; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Ringgenberg; parents Milton and Ernestine Luft; sister Jacqueline (Delmar) Blass; brother-in-law Ed Lashier; and son-in-law Richard Fossey.
