Esther Dettmann, age 94 of Sac City, IA, passed away at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA on May 28, 2022.  Esther Emma Dettmann was born on January 12, 1928 in Sac County to parents Louis and Anna (Lange) Siemering.  Esther was baptized on February 12, 1928 at St John Lutheran Church in Lytton and confirmed on March 29, 1942 at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church.  She grew up on a farm with her family in Cedar Township.  She attended grade school and high school at Lytton Community School.  After graduation, Esther attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA for two years.

On January 11, 1948, Esther was united in marriage to Daryl Dean Dettmann at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton, IA.  This union was blessed with four children: Deb, Dennis, Donavon, and Dee Dee.

She was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary, Friends of the Library, Music Mothers and Do Days at the Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church.  Esther loved going to Hutch’s and Granny B.’s to socialize.  She liked to entertain and have visitors for coffee and homemade cinnamon rolls.   One of her favorite pastimes was attending the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
