Tamie Dawn Ryken, Age 47, passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday, May 20th, 2022 due to COPD; she was in her home located in Auburn, IA which she shared with her fiancé Glenn Higby. She is proceeded in passing by Steven Pickering (Father), Carma Pickering (Mother), and grandparents from both maternal and paternal sides. She is survived in passing by her three daughters, five grandchildren, four siblings, and many extended family members. Chelsie (Age 29, Daughter) and Travis (Spouse) Corcoran with Grandchildren; Tucker (7) and Theia (5) of Eddyville, IA. Ashley Sorenson (Age 28, Daughter) with Grandchildren; Ashley (8), Thaddeus (7), and Theodore (4) of Cedar Rapids, IA. Kaitlynn Musgrove (Age 20, Daughter) of Huxley, IA. Gregg (Brother) and Sherrie Pickering of Knoxville, IA. Julie (Sister) and Draper Handeland of Des Moines, IA. Michelle (Sister) and Brian Meals of Good Thunder, MN, and Steven Pickering Jr. (Brother) of Des Moines, IA.
Tamie was the third child born to Steven and Carma Pickering. Spending the majority of her childhood in Knoxville, IA, and Harvey, IA; attending school in Knoxville, IA. Tamie, then 17, gave birth to her first daughter Chelsie Dawn on September 17th, 1992. Tamie later married Daniel Sorenson of Harvey, IA in 1994. Daniel adopted Chelsie and soon Tamie gave birth to her second daughter Ashley Marie on April 18th, 1994. Tamie and Daniel separated in 1999 where Tamie later remarried and gave birth to her third daughter Kaitlynn Paige on March 11th, 2002. Tamie spent her 20s working as a CNA employed in long-term care facilities and private home healthcare. After divorcing in 2008, Tamie later met and married Jerry Ryken of Oskaloosa, IA where they spent several years together before separating in 2014. Tamie soon met Glenn Higby of Auburn, IA. Tamie and Glenn spent the remainder of her years together in Carroll and Auburn, IA, getting in many practical jokes on each other along the way. Tamie spent the last several years of her life working on her recovery and enjoying the little things in life. She enjoyed long phone conversations with her children, snuggling her cats, listening to music, cooking new recipes, writing, and napping. Tamie and Glenn really enjoyed driving out to nearby lakes to go deer-watching. Tamie was always thrilled to catch a glimpse of the local albino deer.
Tamie’s final wishes were to have a Celebration of Life with her family and friends present to share memories and laughter. Tamie always loved to make people laugh and often shared many jokes and pranks on any unsuspecting person.
