John Kenneth Mauer, age 93, of Tujunga, CA, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family Monday, April 18, 2022.  John was born on May 21, 1928, to Elmer Edward and Violet Aimee (Jensen) Mauer in Carroll County, IA.  He grew up and graduated high school in Lake View, IA.  At an early age, he began working in several local businesses, including Mid-States Equipment, Well’s Grocery, and as the projectionist at the Lake View Theater.

     On September 16, 1956, John was united in marriage to Lois Elaine Quail at First Christian Church in Sac City Iowa.  Shortly after marriage, the couple moved to Southern California where they remained in residence until his passing.  Until his retirement at age 60, John worked as a courier for Glendale Federal Savings and Loan which required traveling throughout the Southern region of the state where he enjoyed interacting with everyone he met.

     John enjoyed having morning coffee with friends and riding his motorcycle with Elaine through the mountain areas near his home.  He was also a great handyman and he did all of the work to maintain their home.

     Those left to mourn his passing include his wife: Lois Elaine (Quail) Mauer of Tujunga, CA., sisters: Muriel Kerr and Virginia Holland, sisters-in-law: Sally Anglum, Wilma Straus, and Josephine Schmidt, and numerous nieces and nephews.
