Lila Lambertz, age 86 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA.  Lila Mae was born on November 11, 1935, to parents Delbert and Olive (Stalnaker) Jenkins in Stapleton, NE.  There she attended school and graduated with the class of 1953 from Baker Rural High.

In the late sixties Lila moved to Iowa and settled in Wall Lake in 1971.  She worked at the local restaurant for several different owners before starting employment in the dietary department of Twilight Acres Nursing Home where she remained for over 36 years.  She greatly enjoyed tending to the needs of the residents and many of her fellow employees became like family.  Working at the local grocery store part time also gave her the opportunity to meet many new friends.

Lila was a longtime member of the Hit & Miss bowling league at Lake Lanes and attended several state tournaments over the years.  Taking the short drive to Sloan or Onawa for a little gambling was also a favorite pastime.  The majority of her free time, however, was spent outside tending to her beautiful yard with its hundreds of plants and flowers.

Even though Lila had been in Iowa for many years she remained a lifelong Nebraska fan and spent Saturdays in the fall cheering on her beloved Huskers.  Go Big Red!

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Monty (Marcy) Hahn of Indianola, IA, Von (Cindy) Hahn of Carroll, IA, and Shelli (Kenny) Harms of Wall Lake, IA; grandchildren: Susan Hahn (Vidar Offigstad), Sara Hahn, Eric (Vicki) Hahn, Mark (Tanya) Hahn, and Mike (Kali) Hahn; great-grandchildren:  Siri, Dina, Jordan, Halie, Faith, Aubrey, Treva, Tahlia, Trinley, Tennison, Tanner, Rylin, and Tucker, and great-great grandson Oliver; and sister Joyce Sheets of Burwell, NE.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jimmie (Gerene) Jenkins, and brother-in-law Don Sheets.
