Harley Cady age 88 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, IA. Harley was born on April 5, 1933, to parents Boyd and Maude (McKenney) Cady in the Coon Rapids area. He graduated from Viola Township High School with the class of 1951 and then enlisted to serve his country in the United States Army in 1954. He was honorably discharged in 1956.
In 1961, Harley was married to Marion Wright. They were blessed with a son, Joe. They later divorced. On April 4, 1970, Harley was united in marriage to Marcia Powell in Sac City, IA. This union was blessed with a daughter, Melissa. Harley worked for Dickenson Company in Oskaloosa as an electrician. They moved to Sac City to raise their family where Harley worked at Youll Plumbing. He later worked for the city of Sac City in maintenance up until his retirement in 1995. In his off time from work, you could find Harley mowing at the Sac City Country Club in between his many rounds of golf. He loved spending time at the golf course & was very precise on how the fairways & greens looked.
Harley was a handyman to many. No challenge was too big for Harley, including remodeling their home. He cherished his time spent with family. Especially going to his grandkids activities & following the Iowa Hawkeyes. He will be missed.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years Marcia Cady of Sac City, IA; children: Joe (Trudy) Cady of Lucas, IA, and Melissa Shull of Lake View, IA; grandchildren: Robert Tackitt, Dallas Cady, Cassidy Cady, Kyle Shull, and Tori Shull; great-grandchildren: Tylen and Vada Tackitt, Ava Dawson, Jace Baker, and Oaklynn Conover; sister Norene Williams of Eastover, NC; several other extended family members and friends.
Harley was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Richard (Marilyn) Cady and Merrill (Martha) Cady; sister Maxine (Harold Lovell) Shaw.
