Valerie Kay “KK” Simpson, age 57 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at MercyOne Siouxland Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.

Valerie Kay Smith was born on January 21, 1964, to parents Ballard and Frankie (Tolson) Smith in Winamac, IN.  She was baptized at the Southern Baptist Church where she grew up in North Judson, IN.  Val attended grade school and graduated from North Judson-San Pierre Schools with the class of 1982.  After graduation, she continued her education at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

On August 9, 2002, Val was united in marriage to Kenneth Scott Simpson at the Faith Bible Church in Sac City, IA, where she gained two children, Tim and Reena.  They made their home in Sac City where Val worked as a nurse for over 20 years.  She spent most of her nursing career helping those in home health and the nursing home.  Val had quite a gift of caregiving and was at her best when she could take care of anyone or anything in need.

Later in life, Val found a love for dog grooming and bathing.  She also enjoyed working at the second hand store, doing craft projects, and all things bling.  Val loved children and you would find her doing craft activities with the kids at church, nieces and nephews, and her grandkids.  Her warm, caring ways will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Ken Simpson of Sac City, IA; children: Tim (Melanie) Simpson of Bakersfield, CA, Reena (Evan) Hansen of Schaller, IA; grandchildren: Raelynn and Bentley Hansen; brothers: Ballard Jr. (Judy) Smith of Lake View, IA, Brandon Smith of Arthur, IA; sisters: Susan (Monroe) Page of Big Rock, TN, Kim (Joe) Menke of Battle Creek, IA; Paula Smith of Arthur, IA; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Val was preceded in death by her parents Ballard and Frankie Smith and infant sister Charlene Smith.
