Donald W. Bettin, age 95, of Odebolt, IA, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021, at Odebolt Specialty Care in Odebolt, IA.  Donald was born on May 9, 1926, in Sac County, IA, to parents John and Mollie Bettin.  He attended country school up until the eighth grade.

   On September 30, 1949, Donald was united in marriage to Leora Kutz.  This union was blessed with two children, Darwyn and Carol.  They made their home on a farm north of Odebolt for 26 years before moving to Odebolt in 1977.  Donald was a true farmer all of his life.  He liked to see the crops planted in the spring and watered for the harvest in the fall.  Donald was a devoted husband to his wife Leora for 67 years and was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him.

   Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Darwyn (Mary) Bettin of Early, IA, and Carol (James) Focht of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren: Heather (Mike) Spetman of Odebolt, IA, Amber (Matt) Martin of West Des Moines, IA, and Thomas Focht of Oklahoma City, OK; five great-grandchildren: Caden, Mahaela, and Charlie Spetman, Emma and Calvin Martin; and sister-in-law Lorraine Bettin-Fix of Vinton, IA; many other extended family members and friends.

   Donald was preceded in death by his wife Leora Bettin; parents John and Mollie Bettin; and siblings: Leone (C.J. “King”) Sampers, Earl (Helen) Bettin, Elmer “Hans” Bettin, Duane Bettin, and Alice (Walter) Kelly.
