Margaret McCrea, age 36 of Fort Dodge, IA, formerly of Sac City, IA, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, with her parents by her side.
Margaret Rose was born on February 5, 1985, to parents Mike and Roxann McCrea at Loring Hospital in Sac City. She was immediately sent to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA, where she was able to receive the specialty care she needed. She may have been born with a disability, but she never allowed that disability to define her.
Margaret grew up in Sac City, out on the farm along with her siblings. She attended elementary school in Sac City and graduated with Sac City Community High School’s Class of 2003. While in school, she was in choir, participated in track, and was a high school cheerleader.
She adored animals and over the years had many pets she loved to care for. Her first pup, Pickles, always held a special place in her heart. Most recently, after moving to Fort Dodge, Margaret volunteered at the Almost Home animal shelter. She looked forward to going there to help take care of the animals that were waiting for new homes.
Margaret loved to read, especially Harry Potter books. She really enjoyed arts and crafts of all kinds and was a whiz when it came to word searches/puzzles. She had amazing spelling skills…you could ask her how to spell almost anything and she could tell you right on the spot.
Margaret was such a genuine, caring person, who worried more for and about others than herself. She had such a soft, kind heart. Her spunky yet gentle smile will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in the arms of our Lord for eternity.
She leaves behind to mourn her loss, parents, Mike and Roxann McCrea of Sac City, IA; siblings: Matt (Leah) McCrea of Spencer, IA, Miles McCrea (Samantha Newberry) of Sac City, IA, Molly (Brandon) Schmidt of Bellevue, NE, and Tommy McCrea (Julie) of Omaha, NE; nieces and nephews: Gabe, Riley, Oliver, Declan, Eleanor, Theodore, Audrey, Ryan, and Kelce; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family members and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Denny and Rosalynn Strong; paternal grandparents Sherman Jr. and Bonnie McCrea.
