Dorothy McBride, age 95 of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City surrounded by her family. Dorothy Frances Krantz was born on December 18, 1925, to parents Charles and Esther (Beadle) Krantz in Fort Dodge, IA, the second of six children.

Dorothy was raised in the Fort Dodge area and graduated from Otho High School in Otho, IA, with the class of 1943. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing with her family and friends at the Bohemian Hall in Fort Dodge. This was something she spoke of frequently.

On February 3, 1951, Dorothy was united in marriage to Vernon Dale McBride in Moorland, IA. This union was blessed with four children: Kenneth, Kathy, Sharon, and Karol. Together they raised their family in Sac City where Dorothy worked at Noble manufacturing once her youngest child started school. She would work there for eighteen years until they closed then going to work at Sunwise in Sac City for the next twelve years.

Camping was just one of Dorothy’s favorite things to do. Her children recall many tent camping trips on the riverbanks growing up. She and Dale loved mushroom hunting in the spring together. Dorothy also enjoyed being outside tending to her garden or taking care of her flowers. She enjoyed all animals, especially birds, squirrels, rabbits, and butterflies. Dorothy was always known for baking cookies for her family, friends, and neighbors. A treat that has been and will be missed by all.

Dorothy loved her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She adored spending time with all of them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Kenneth “Diamond” (Devi) McBride of Sac City, IA, Kathy Kuehl of Sac City, IA, Sharon (Rick) Blaha of Bellevue, NE, and Karol (Eric) Juhl of Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren: Bob Blaha of Desmet, SD, Tom McCrea of Omaha, NE, James (Laura) Blaha of Bellevue, NE, Vicki (Mike) Bertrand of Sioux City, IA, Mike (Tina) Kuehl of Queen Creek, AZ, Chad (Jodi) Kuehl of Boone, IA, Jessica Coldwell of Council Bluffs, IA, and Gene McBride of Sac City, IA; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Donnie (Betty) McBride of Neosha, MO, sisters-in-law: Pat Krantz of Fort Dodge, IA, Marcella McBride of Joplin, MO, JoAnn McBride of Tama, IA; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
