On June 3, 1922, Phyllis Jeanne Masteller Olson was born to her parents Ted and Beverly Masteller in Lytton, Iowa. On January 5, 2014, at the age of 91 she passed away in Sac City, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, brother JQ, and daughter-in-law Sherry Olson.

She is survived by her daughters: Deborah (Paul) Bassett, Rebecca Yetter; and son John (Joy) Olson; grandchildren: Kate and Charles (Jessica) Holmes, Sara (Tim) Fischer and Megan (Logan) Killpack, and Morgan, Sean, and Jesse (Nicole) Olson; six beautiful great-grandchildren: Ethan Charles Holmes, Gabriel, Grant, Laine Elise and Caroline Fischer, and Broderick Olson; Phyllis also leaves her sister-in-law Patricia Masteller; her nieces and nephews in the Olson-Masteller family; and her cousins: Pamela Patrick and Stephanie Manning.

Phyllis was a life-long resident of Lytton and Sac City, IA. She graduated from Sac City High School in 1939. On August 19, 1946, she and Charles were united in marriage in Lake View’s Emanuel Lutheran Church. She was a faithful member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sac City, IA for over 60 years, active in the Ladies Aid and Choir.

St. Augustine wrote, “In the House of God there is never-ending festival; the angel choir makes eternal holiday; the presence of God’s face gives joy that never fails.” Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt is now part of the eternal festival while we deeply grieve our loss. She leaves the Olson-Masteller-Reckoff family with memories of our holidays, birthdays, after-church and Lake View cottage celebrations-occasions resounding with laughter, love, and always, always delicious food and spirits.
