Ardyce Stock, age 97 of Lake View, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View where she was a resident.

Ardyce Elizabeth Stock, the daughter of Rudy and Luella (Sillars) Stark, was born October 4, 1923, in rural Lake View. She joined her two older siblings, Ruth and Lyle. Ardyce graduated from Lake View High School in 1943, where she met the love of her life, Eugene. While Eugene was deployed in the Army Air Corps in Europe, she attended Burroughs Business School in Des Moines, IA, and from there moved to San Francisco, CA, in 1943, where she worked for South Pacific Standard Oil. She and five friends took the civil service tests and moved to Chicago in 1944, to work for the Treasury Department. After World War II ended, she returned to Lake View and married Eugene on April 11, 1945. They were blessed with two sons, Mitchell and Dean. They lived on the Stock Century Farm for 66 years.

Ardyce was active in Rainbow for Girls of Lake View, was a State Drill Leader, Peace Lutheran Church Sunday School Teacher, Twilight Acres Volunteer, 4-H Leader, and a member of the Twilight Acres Health Advisory Board, Spring Lake Ladies League, and American Legion Auxiliary.

Ardy loved to shop and almost anything she owned she could somehow tell you where she got it or who gave it to her. Even as her eyesight deteriorated, she had no problem reading the size of a blouse or a price tag. Her favorite shade of Merle Norman lipstick never left her pocket and chocolate was always in her purse. Anyone that stopped by the farm couldn’t leave without a Snickers and a Pepsi, she wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. She always made sure her grandchildren and great-grandchildren felt special – trips to Kathy’s Korner to get ice cream is something her great-grandchildren always looked forward to.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons Mitchell Stock (partner Dee Parrott) of Lake View and Dean (Nancy) Stock of Lake View; grandchildren: Greg (Stacy) Stock, Steve (Tiffany) Stock, Dan (Nicole) Stock, Sondra (Jeremy) Rierson, and Kristen (Scott) Poen; sixteen great-grandchildren; many extended family members and friends.

Ardyce was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; parents Rudy and Luella Stark; parents-in-law Christopher and Alvina Stock; sister Ruth Meyers; brother Lyle Stark; and daughter-in-law Deana Stock.

Memorials can be directed to The Lake View Historical Museum and The Sac County Fairgrounds Raise The Roof.
