Terry Swanson, age 70 of Fonda, IA, formerly of Lake View, IA, passed away on Thursday, September, 24, 2020, at Fonda Nursing and Rehab in Fonda, IA. Terry Swanson was born on January 9, 1950, to parents Russell and Virginia (Gutierrez) Swanson in Chicago, IL. He grew up in the Chicago area where he attended school.

On February 27, 1970, Terry was drafted into the United States Army and served overseas during the Vietnam War. His rank when honorably discharged on April 20, 1973, was SP4 and he held special honors as a Sharp Shooter.

Once Terry returned home back to the Chicago area he worked in construction. This is what he did for work most of his life other than driving truck and hanging drywall for people. He was certainly a ‘jack of all trades’. In his younger days he played the guitar and was in a band. He loved to go fishing in his spare time and also enjoyed taking trips to casinos. Terry moved to Lake View in 2001 to be closer to his family.

Terry was a hard worker who had a big heart and that showed as he was always so willing to donate to local police departments, fire departments, VFW’s, etc. While he never had children of his own he was an uncle to many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Terry leaves behind his siblings Paula (Gerald) Siplon of Lake View, IA, Tom (Annino) Swanson of Lake View, IA; nieces and nephews: Ronald, Ryan, Randy, Brooke, Haley, Jordan, Justine, Jacob, Jessanne, Megan; many other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Virginia Swanson.
