Rachel Lynn, daughter of Bryan and Eva Thompson, was born on March 28^th, 1984.  She grew up in her hometown of Lake View, Iowa, where she attended WLVA High School.  There, she was involved in drill team and cheerleading, before graduating in 2002. She went on to study Respiratory Therapy at Des Moines Area Community College.

   Rachel married John Glissmann in 2006, and the couple had three sons; Parker, Hayden, and Connor.  The boys were her pride and joy, and she dedicated herself to supporting their interests and hobbies, especially sports.  She had a close relationship with her parents and siblings, and absolutely adored her nieces and nephews.

   Besides her family, Rachel’s biggest passion was her career.  Her most noteworthy position was at the Iowa Donor Network (IDN) where she worked from 2010 to 2020, and served as an Advanced Practice Donation Coordinator.  She was certified in the Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (FCCS), as well as a Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) and ECMO Specialist.  During her time at IDN, she helped nearly 450 organ donors to fulfill their final wishes.  Rachel herself was an organ donor, and will continue to touch the lives of others through her donations.

   Outside of work, Rachel enjoyed many hobbies.  She liked working out and staying active, whether she was at the gym or coaching high school cheerleading.  She shared her boys’ love of sports, and was an avid Cubs, Packers, and Hawkeyes fan.  She loved traveling, coffee and wine dates with her friends, keeping up with her brother and sisters on “sib chat”, spoiling her nieces and nephews, and above all, spending time with her kids.

   Rachel’s love of life and adventurous spirit were contagious, and her smile and warmth will be greatly missed.  She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Vernon Klenk, Richard and Shirley (Klenk) Bradwell, as well as her paternal grandparents, Mervin and Harriet Thompson. 

   Rachel is survived by her children Parker, Hayden, and Connor Glissmann; their father John Glissmann; parents Bryan and Eva Thompson; siblings Andrea (Jeremiah) Koch, Taylor (Sarah) Thompson,  and Nichole (Benjamin) Riffey; nieces and nephews: Ella Bussell, Lyric Bussell, Austin Thompson, Evin Wolff, Marleigh Banks, Zaylynn Lawler, Piper Thompson, Marina Thompson, Everett Riffey, and Arlo Riffey; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who all loved her very much.

   The family of Rachel’s special friend, Tom Kennedy, is in our thoughts and prayers.
