Darlene Ulven, age 71 of Granby, MO, formerly of Schaller, IA, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Cassville Health and Rehab in Cassville, MO. Darlene Rose Ulven was born on April 24, 1949 to parents Frances and Mary (Babatz) Kuchenmeister. She graduated high school with the class of 1967 from Buffalo, MN. Dar was united in marriage to Lowell Ulven on October 22, 1994 in Schaller, IA. They lived in Schaller for many years and Dar worked for Jerry Woodke Fiberglass. After a brief vacation, they decided to move to Granby, MO in 1996, where Dar worked at a Fiberglass Manufacturing Business where they made foreign sports cars.
Lowell and Dar took many trips together, most of the time they involved antiquing. One of her favorite memories was taking a vacation of a lifetime in Hawaii for two weeks. In her free time, Dar liked to knit and crochet, making numerous gifts for family members and friends. She knitted baby caps, which she donated to the local hospitals, doll dresses and beautiful afghans. Dar also liked to work outside, plant flowers, fill her bird feeders and was known in the neighborhood for all of her wind chimes. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her dear friend Karen (Jess) Wells of Exeter, MO; children: Ronnie Sebek of Buffalo, MN, and Rachel Ankrum of Indianola, IA; mother-in- law Wanda Bulten of Early, IA, husband Lowell’s children: Tate, Jennifer and Stephanie and their families; brothers: Dale Kuchenmeister of Monticello, MN and Gary Kuchenmeister of Buffalo, MN; sisters: JoAnne (Joe) Czanstkowski of Delano, MN, Rita Glauner of Albertville, MN, Sandy Bunk of Monticello, MN, Susanne Otten of Monticello, MN, Deborah Kuchenmeister of Buffalo, MN and Kim Kuchenmeister of Buffalo, MN; sisters-in-law: Marla (Steve) Jewett of Sloan, IA, Lori (Stuart) Sweeden of Rome, GA and Kari (Randy) Franken of Early, IA; several grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Lowell Ulven in 2010, son Scott, her parents and father-in-law Eggo "Swede" Bulten.
