Don Wilson, age 85 of Sac City, IA, passed way on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, IA. Donald Elliott Wilson was born at home in Sac City on October 23, 1934 to parents John and Esther (Elliott) Wilson. He attended school in Sac City until the 9th grade and then went to Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO, and then on to Kirksville, MO. Don served joined the United States Army and served his country for two years. He was stationed in California, near Long Beach and returned back to the farm in Sac City in 1958.
Don was united in marriage to Dorothy Rix on February 25, 1962 at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton, IA. They were blessed with two daughters: JoAnn and Julie. Don and his family enjoyed going on many vacations together. They visited almost every state, even Hawaii. He enjoyed watching ball games, especially Iowa State, Kansas City Chiefs and the Vikings. He liked to talk a lot and walking on his treadmill. Don also enjoyed putting on the Sportsman’s Breakfasts for many years.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Dorothy of Sac City, IA; his daughters JoAnn and Julie Wilson both of Sac City, IA; sister Gloria Ahrens and her children Jim (Mary) Ames, Brenda (Dan) Hull and Steve (Tammi) Ames; brothers and sisters-in-laws: Betty and Steve Kral, Mary and Jack Clearwater and Dean and Deb Rix; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
