James Straus, age 55 of Early, IA, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at his home in Early. James Douglas Straus was born on September 15, 1964, to parents Duane and Wilma (Quail) Straus at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA. He was raised in Early where he and his siblings attended school. James graduated from Schaller-Crestland High School with the Class of 1983.

   James worked for several area farmers as a farmhand for most of his life. He enjoyed going fishing and liked to hunt in his free time. James also enjoyed watching football and was a NASCAR fan. He was a good bowler and played on a league for several years.

   James was a very simple man…the more uncomplicated something was, the more he enjoyed it. He was blessed with a son, Chris, and eventually a granddaughter, Brailey, who brought him such great joy. After she was born, there was nothing he looked more forward to than spending time with her. James will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

   He leaves behind his mother, Wilma Straus of Early, IA; son Chris ( Lindsey) Straus of Aurelia, IA; granddaughter Brailey Straus of Aurelia, IA; brother Terry Straus of Washington state; sister Tammy (Kevin) Sowers of Zimmerman, MN; many extended family members and friends.

   James was preceded in death by his father, Duane Straus.
