Bonnie F. McCrea, age 83, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Bonnie was born on April 1, 1930, to Edward Earl and Geraldine Fern (Birt) Austin in Sac City. Bonnie’s family moved quite extensively and she attended school in various places including: Sac City, Ft. Dodge, Mt. Pleasant, Ogden, UT, Albuquerque, NM, Pueblo, CO, Covington, KY, Bedford, IN, and Crane, IN, before moving back to Sac City where she graduated from High School in 1948. She was baptized in the First Baptist Church in June 1948. Bonnie was united in marriage to J. Sherman McCrea, Jr. in June of 1948. He passed away in February 1990 after 41 wonderful years together. They were blessed with six children who all survive.
After the children were raised she worked at various locations in Sac City including: Noble Manufacturing doing office work, owned and operated a Laundromat in Early, Sunwise, a seamstress at Waterbed Mfg, activities director at Park View Care Center, clerk at the Sac City Library and then assistant librarian, ASCS office and SETD offices, and DaLe Monogramming, before retiring in 1998. Bonnie enjoyed making crafts, knitting, fishing, dancing, and traveling. She also enjoyed geneology, country westerns, listening to religious music, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband J. Sherman McCrea, Jr; her mother Geraldine and step-father Joseph Doyle Grundon; father Earl (Irene) Austin; in-laws: Sherman Sr. and Goldie McCrea; grandparents: Minnie and Waldo Birt; and Anne and Ed Austin; grandson Justin McCrea and great-granddaughter Sidney Griffin.
Left to mourn are her children: Vickie (Dan) Riley, Michael (Roxann) McCrea, Sylvia Allen, Jeff (Leah) McCrea, Brenda McCrea, and Rebecca McCrea; 20 grandchildren: Chris, Holly, Tom, Matt, Margaret, Molly, Miles, Jennifer, Michael, Lindsey, Leslie, Lacy, Cole, Tamara, Jason, Dylan, Kylie, Kayla, Coty Mae, and Jessica; 28 great-grandchildren one great-great grandchild; sister Earline (_Harold_) Titus brother Gary Austin; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
