Randy Vonnahme, age 66 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA. Randolph Martin Vonnahme was born on June 6, 1953, to parents Martin and Juanita (Kuker) Vonnahme at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, IA. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton, IA.
Randy and his siblings were raised in the Templeton and Carroll, IA, areas. He attended grade school at school at St. Lawrence Catholic School and then attended Kuemper Catholic High School.
On March 10, 1973, Randy married the love of his life, Darlene Kay Obman, at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. This union was blessed with two sons, Scott and Michael.
Randy worked for Albrecht Oil & Feed in Wall Lake for over twenty years and then at Farner-Bocken in Carroll. He retired in August of 2018. Throughout his life, Randy helped many area farmers in their fields. This was something he always enjoyed doing. After he retired, he began bartending at the Angry Beaver in Maple River, IA. Randy loved this part-time job as it meant even more time that he was able to see and visit with his friends.
In Randy’s spare time, he enjoyed many hobbies including playing cards, fishing, and helping his friend, Tim, work on his racecar. A ride on his John Deere tractor could also put an easy smile on his face. Randy served on the Wall Lake Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years. This group was like a second family to Randy. Above all, Randy loved his family. He was a hardworking, friendly, loving and giving guy who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Vonnahme of Wall Lake, IA; son Michael Vonnahme of Wall Lake, IA; brothers: Robert Vonnahme of Carroll, IA, Ronald (Mary) Vonnahme of Templeton, IA, and Richard (Leslie) Vonnahme of Carroll, IA; sisters: Marcella Patton of Carroll, IA, Marilyn Miller of Fonda, IA, Mary (Kevin) Hike of Lake City, IA, and Margie (Todd) Mumm of Westside, IA; sisters-in-law: Charlotte (Jim) King of Carroll, IA, Irene Corbin of Wall Lake, IA, Gloria Obman of Wall Lake, IA, Mary Obman of Auburn, IA, and Joan Obman of Breda, IA; and of course his little buddy, Sparky; many extended family members and friends.
