Louis Warren Bethune

Louis Bethune, age 103, of Sac City, IA died Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 10:30am, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Born September 27, 1910, in Butterfield, MO, Louis Warren Bethune was the son of George “Dee” and Florence (Roller) Bethune. He moved throughout the Midwest as a child, and earned his barbering license in 1935. Louis barbered in Carnarvon and later in Nemaha, and helped his father-in-law on the farm near Carnarvon. On September 26, 1939, he was married to Florence Peters. The couple settled west of Sac City where they farmed until retiring, moving into Lake View in 1972.

Louis enjoyed gardening and reading, especially Lewis & Clark history. He and Florence made many happy memories traveling the country in their motor home.

Survivors include three children: Linda Ritchie of Sac City, Albert (May) Bethune of Hemet, CA, and Kay (Ken) Osborne of Santa Ana, CA; four grandchildren: Brendan (Nicole) Osborne of Santa Ana, CA, Devin (Ingrid) Osborne of Rosemead, CA, Katelyn Bethune of Hemet, CA, and Katherine Feinman of Hemet, CA; two great-granddaughters Victoria and Jade Osborne of Santa Ana, CA; sister, Lena Pierotti of Whittier, CA; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
