   Ed Mott, age 81 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.  George Edward Mott was born at home near Newell, IA, on November 3, 1938, to parents Benjamin and Lena (Feitz) Mott.  He had two older sisters, Elsie and Verlee, and was baptized on November 8, 1938, at the Newell Methodist Church.  The Mott family lived on a farm near Newell until they moved to a farm in Harrison County, MO, where they lived until Ed was a senior in high school.  During his senior year, they moved back to Iowa and Ed graduated from Sac City High School in 1956.

   Ed enlisted to serve his country in the United States Air Force. After basic training, he served his four year tour in Alaska and continued to live there after his discharge until 1961.  In 1962, he moved to Wall Lake, IA, and worked for Gus Schroeder, drove truck hauling cattle for Mack & Herrig, and later worked for Cook Implement.  He opened Ed's Standard Station in 1972. He ran Ed's Service Station until 1981, and then he delivered propane until he retired in 2004.  After retirement he drove truck for various farmers and other businesses.  

   On June 18, 1966, Ed married the love of his life, Elaine Heckert in Sutherland, IA, at the Methodist Church.  They were blessed with three children: David, Janene and Doug.  Ed enjoyed fishing and gardening.  He helped start the Wall Lake Farm Festival Demo Derby and was an active member of the Wall Lake Methodist Church and Lakes United Methodist Church in Lake View.  Most of all, Ed loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

   Those left to cherish Ed’s memory include his loving wife of 53 years, Elaine Mott of Wall Lake, IA; children: David (Janet) Mott of Odebolt, IA, Janene (Matt) Raasch of Odebolt, IA, and Doug Mott of Wall Lake, IA; six grandchildren: Kristina Rake, Amber Rake, Mackenzie Mott, Drayton Raasch, Rylin Mott, and Jaxon Raasch; great-grandchild Emerson Rake; sister Elsie Haradon of Pickens, SC; brother-in-law Don Hoffard of Sac City, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. 

   He was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Lena Mott; sisters Verlee Hoffard and Lorna Ford; brother-in-law Dick Haradon; nephew Danny Hoffard.
