Marjorie June Reinhart, age 94 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City, IA. Marjorie was born on June 14, 1925, to parents Abel “Jim” and Sarah (Jackson) Peters at their farm home south and east of Auburn, IA. She was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church, south of Ulmer, IA, by Rev. E.L. Wittkopp. She was later confirmed by Rev. E.A. Fritz in August of 1939 at the Peace Lutheran Church. Marjorie graduated from Sac No. 2 Country School and later worked for various families in the area, at the Ben Franklin Store in Sac City and the Ulmer grocery store.
On June 16, 1944, Marjorie was united in marriage to Maynard “Dick” Reinhart in Temple, TX, during World War II. To this union was born three daughters: Donna, Jean and Barbara. Marjorie was a busy farm wife and mother. She liked to collect angels and stagecoaches and enjoyed baking sugar cookies for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They also loved her Christmas “slush”. In her younger years, Marjorie taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
In August of 1990, Marjorie and Dick retired from farming and moved to Carroll, IA, where she was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Rachel Circle. She also volunteered at the New Hope Bargain Shop and played bingo at the Carroll Health Center. In September of 2014, Marjorie moved to Lake View and became a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children: Donna (John) Spaen of Carroll, IA, Jean (George) Mohrhauser of Lake View, IA, and Barbara (Leon) Schroeder of Lake View, IA; eight grandchildren: Lynn (Rod) King of Sac City, IA, Michael (Angela) Mohrhauser of Ankeny, IA, Tanya Kruse of Clive, IA, Michelle (Jacob) Vogel of Ames, IA, Brian Spaen (fiancé Karly Michl) of Des Moines, IA, Kevin (Alison) Schroeder of Lake View, IA, Kim (Ryan) Brimeyer of Waukee, IA, Kay (Trevor) Mickelson of Urbandale, IA; 20 great-grandchildren; brother Roger (Rita) Peters of Lake View, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Abel “Jim” and Sarah Peters; her husband Maynard Reinhart on September 28, 2006; sisters: LaVerna (Wesley) Bettin, Beulah (Lyle) Onken and Evelyn (Don) Fredrichs; brother James Peters at 6 years old; grandson Steven Schroeder in infancy; and in-laws Henry and Ruby Reinhart.
