Melanie Heim, age 33 of Carroll, IA, formerly of Early, IA, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at New Hope Village in Carroll. Melanie Jean Heim was born on September 22, 1986, to mother Victoria Heim at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA. She was baptized right after birth at the hospital.

   Melanie grew up in Early, where she lived with her mother and sister Jennifer. She attended school in Storm Lake and graduated from Storm Lake High School. She was employed at Howard Activity Center in Sac City while still living at home. A few years after graduation, Melanie moved to Carroll to live at New Hope Village. There she was able to take part in daily activities at the facility. Melanie had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She especially liked participating in outings that included shopping and dining out. She loved her burgers and fries and was especially happy if she got to follow those with ice cream.

   Melanie’s most enjoyed activity was watching her favorite cartoon, SpongeBob. This could always put a smile on her face. She also enjoyed watching the cartoon Rugrats. If you knew Melanie, you knew she had a love for stickers, whether it be a simple label type sticker or an extra fun decorative sticker, she was full of joy any time she received a new one. She loved playing with pencils and had a pencil in her hand most of the time.  She also enjoyed wearing jewelry especially her bracelets.

   Melanie may have had physical struggles throughout her life but it never stopped her from being a vibrant, caring, and full-of-love individual. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

   Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Vicki Heim of Early, IA; sister Jennifer Fuller (special friend Paul Harris) of Fallon, NV; grandmother Sandra Heim of Early, IA; aunts: Barb (Jerry) Weinzetl of Las Vegas, NV, and Kim (Jeff) Nibbelink of Sioux Center, IA; uncles: Chuck (Kendra) Heim of South Point, OH, Rick (Kay) Heim of Whitesboro, TX, and Jeff (Ann) Heim of Bettendorf, IA; many cousins, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Paul Heim.
