Shirley Fischer, age 85 of Carnarvon, IA, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society in Holstein, IA. Shirley LaVonne Vauble was born on October 26, 1934, in Sac County to parents Ray and Catherine (Steenblock) Vauble. She grew up in Sac County where she attended country school.
On March 10, 1957, Shirley was united in marriage to William Fischer at the First Christian Church in Sac City. This union was blessed with five children: Carolyn, Bonnie, Patricia, Donald and Michael. Shirley was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children. She was a member of the Tops group, liked to play cards, enjoyed going for walks and loved cats. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, William Fischer of Carnarvon, IA; children: Michael Fischer (April Sondgeroth) of Carnarvon, IA, Carolyn (James) Gough of Woodward, IA, Bonnie Grunwald of Carroll, IA, and Patricia (Maxwell) Hicks of Crystal City, MO; grandchildren: Kari Stewart (friend Steve), Julie Hall, Robert Hall, Kelly (Erik) Whiton, James (Leah) Gough, Cody Grunwald, Cheyenne (Zachary) Brinson, Tyler (Lexi) Hicks, Eric Fischer, Emily Fischer, Ethan Fischer, and Adam Denney; great-grandchildren: Aaron, Zachary, Anthony, Nathan, Austin, Colton, Ashley, Caleb, Jordyn, Hudson, Greyson, Mason, Skyler, and Makayla; great-great-grandchildren: Athena, Karli, Emma, and Wyatt; brother Larry (Bonnie) Vauble; sisters: Sharon Lamaak, Linda Corrin, and Beverly (Raymond) Sowards; brothers-in-law: John (Micki) Fischer, Keith Dixon, and Robert Collins; sister-in-law Kay Fischer; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Donald Fischer; parents Ray and Catherine Vauble; brother Gerald; sisters: Mary (Ira) Oldnettle, Sandy (Gilbert) Miller, and Peggy Weilenman; brothers-in-law: Raymond Corrin and Raymond Fischer; sisters-in-law: Margaret Dixon and Alice Collins.
