Sheryl Cook, age 58 of Lake View, IA, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View after fighting a long term debilitating disease for many years.

   Sheryl Ann Steffes was born on June 29, 1961, to parents Albert and Irene (Halbur) Steffes in Alta, IA.  Sheryl was raised on the family farm near Alta where she attended grade school in Aurelia and gradated from Alta High School.  She was baptized as a baby and confirmed at age 12 into the Catholic faith in Storm Lake. 

   On June 30, 1984, at her parent’s home, Sheryl was united in marriage to Tim Cook.  This union was blessed with two children: Michael and Shawn.  They later divorced.  She and her family lived in Lake View where Sheryl worked with handicapped kids and then later at a group home for the elderly.

   Sheryl was a caring person and took pride in helping others.  She enjoyed going to garage sales, watching wrestling and playing cards.  She also liked being outside and spending the weekends camping, going on road trips and motorcycle rides.  Sheryl was a proud grandmother and seeing her grandchildren always brightened her day.  She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

   Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Shawn Cook of Lake View, IA, and Michael (Courtny) Cook of Lake View, IA; grandchildren: Taylor, Aspen, Christian and Madyson Cook, Kyle Stansberry, Madison Stansberry, Avery Cook and Keaton Cook; mother Irene Steffes of Lake View, IA; brothers: Jim (Patsy) Steffes of Bonne Terre, MO, and Ron (Sheila) Steffes of Springfield, MO; many extended family members and friends.

   Sheryl is preceded in death by her father Albert Steffes; brothers: Brian, Larry and Steve Steffes.
